Accessibility and Captions
This guide explains how to look for available viewing options and how creators can prepare accessible video materials. Options vary by title, player and device; this page does not mean every title already includes captions or every accessibility feature.
For viewers
- Open the player’s Settings menu and look for captions or subtitles when a track is available.
- If offered, choose the language and caption appearance that work for you.
- Use your browser or device’s text-size, zoom and accessibility settings as needed.
- If captions are missing, inaccurate or out of sync, report the title and a timestamp to support.
- For playback or account problems, use the linked help guide.
What useful captions include
Captions should represent the spoken words and meaningful sounds. Identify a speaker when it is not obvious and describe relevant sounds, such as [door slams] or [music fades], when they help explain the scene. Avoid covering important text or action.
Creator delivery checklist
- Start from the final edited video so timing matches the release.
- Transcribe the speech accurately. Review names, numbers, locations and technical terms.
- Add meaningful sounds and speaker changes where needed.
- Synchronize each cue to the audio and allow enough reading time.
- Preview the complete video with captions on, including a small screen.
- Keep an editable transcript and a timed caption file, such as SRT or WebVTT, with the video package. Confirm the supported format in the upload form or with support before delivery.
Descriptive transcripts
A transcript gives a readable version of the episode. Add important visual information that is not spoken aloud: an on-screen instruction, a chart’s takeaway, a key action or a speaker’s displayed name. Identify speakers and use clear paragraphs. A caption transcript alone may need these additions.
Plan accessibility while filming
- Record clear speech and keep background music low enough for dialogue.
- Speak important on-screen instructions aloud.
- Use readable text with clear contrast and enough time to read it.
- Avoid unnecessary flashing effects.
- Include accessibility materials in the release checklist.
Ask for help or report an issue
Email support@kronostv.net with the title/public link, device/browser, feature needed, timestamp and what happened. Include a screenshot if useful. Never send a password, payment details or stream key. You do not need to share a diagnosis or other medical information to report an accessibility problem.
